Communities across Florida are mobilizing to protect the legal rights of rivers and other ecosystems in the face of red tide, algae blooms, and other threats. Join the Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights and the Florida Rights of Nature Network for a Rights of Nature 101 beginner’s webinar for Florida residents.
Learn how people in communities can elevate environmental protections for Florida’s rivers, bays, estuaries, and other ecosystems by recognizing and enforcing their legally enforceable rights. The webinar will review the history of the Rights of Nature movement, including the relationship with indigenous rights and tribal governance, as well as discuss local and national Rights of Nature laws and court decisions. Presenters will also discuss the growing number of grassroots campaigns across Florida and how you can become involved.
Who should attend: Florida residents interested in supporting and becoming involved with the Rights of Nature movement across the state.
